The Department of Food and Beverage, Cheng Shiu University, won seven golds, five silvers, and three bronzes in the 2021 Korea World Food Championships (KWFC). The Department of Cosmetics and Fashion Styling participated in the 17th IFBC 2021 Korea International Beauty and won four golds and six silvers. The Department of Tourism and Recreation also joined the 2021 Korea World Food Championships (KWFC) and received one silver. President Jui-Chang Kung acknowledged the outstanding performance of teachers and students. Jou-an Shih, in the second year of the Master’s programs of the Department of Cosmetics and Fashion Styling, won the gold medal in eyelash extension skills, the silver medal in natural tip overlaps (a nail beauty work technique), and the silver medal in machine microblading for eyebrows. Four golds and six silvers were won in the 17th IFBC 2021 Korea International Beauty. Jou-an Shih won the gold medal in eyelash extension skills, the silver medal in natural tip overlaps (a nail beauty work technique), and the silver medal in machine microblading for eyebrows (a semi-permanent makeup technique). Guo-kang Kao won two top prizes: gold in creative updo design and silver in traditional updo design (hair beauty category). Hung Lin was awarded a silver medal for bridal makeup (cosmetics category). Chia-hsin Cho received a gold medal in body and back skincare (skincare category), Ting-Jan Lee a silver medal in body and back skincare (skincare category), Wan-ting Chou a gold medal in aromatherapy (wellbeing category), and Pei-ching Chiua a silver medal in aromatherapy (wellbeing category). The Department of Food and Beverage, Cheng Shiu University, picked up seven golds, five silvers, and three bronzes in the 2021 Korea World Food Championships. The winners were students Chun-yu Lin (one gold medal); Yu-shan Chang (one silver), Wei-ching Wang (one silver) and I-ching Wang (one bronze) from the cocktail class; Ming-hsiu Tseng and Tzu-hao Liu (one gold each) and Tzu-ling Li (one silver) from the culinary class (main courses); Shih-hsuan Tsai (one gold) from the class of vegetable carving; Ping-li Tsai (one bronze) from the class of desserts; I-chen Lu (one bronze) from the class of whipped cream cakes; Ju-yin Yuan and Li-yuan Chu (one gold each) and Min-hua Yang and Yang-i Hsu (one silver each) from the class of barista training; lecturer Chi-hung Chao (one gold) from the class of coffee drip brewing. The Department of Tourism and Recreation participated in the 2021 Korea World Food Championships and Fan-ru Lee won a silver in traditional cocktails. Rou-an Shih, in the second year of the Master’s programs of the Department of Cosmetics and Fashion Styling, won one gold and two silvers. She won a gold medal in eyelash extension techniques. The usual cosmetic design applied to a customer’s roundish eyes is to render the fold of the double eyelids unnoticeable. However, Shih decided to extend the look of the eyes with a sexy touch, and her eyelash extensions made the fold obvious and the double eyelids looked lively. Shi-hsuan Tsai, a student from the Department of Food and Beverage, won a gold medal in the art of vegetable carving with her work “Qilin and Its Child”. She mentioned the tremendous difficulty when practicing the carving of taros, consulted with Lecturer Chin-chun Cheng about shaping and detailing, and accomplished her works with gradual modifications. At the end of this competition, she was happy and surprised when told she had won the gold medal, and felt grateful and emotional after months of effort. The participating teachers and students mentioned that this was the first time the competition was held online due to COVID-19. That said, it was a great opportunity to join a global contest during the pandemic, as it broadened the horizon and stimulated one’s potential. |
