In an effort to cultivate business and technical professionals to accommodate our country’s industrial development, Mr. Chun-yaun Cheng, Mr. Chin-Ko Kung and Mr. Ching-sheng Li established this school in 1965, choosing the well-known Cheng-Ching lake as our campus location. The school name “Cheng-Shiu” was chosen from the classic Chinese philosophy The Great Learning as: Cheng-Hsin (righteouness), Shiu-Sen (fortitude), Chi-Chia (family value), Chi-Kuo (governs) and Ping Tian Hsia (prosperity). “Unto perfection”is out school motto.

Our school was set out as “Cheng-Shiu Junior College of technology” in 1956. It was then reorganized with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and was renamed as “Cheng-Shiu Institute of Technology & Commerce” in 1980. In 1999, the school was promoted to be “Cheng Shiu Institute of Technology” and was further upgraded to “Cheng-Shiu University” in 2003.
