The “Sports Communication Forum: Cultivating × Industry, University × Technology” hosted by the Sports Administration was held at Cheng Shiu University on June 21 (Sat) over two consecutive days. The event invited teachers and students from nearly 20 colleges and universities across Taiwan and experts in the field of sports communication. Cheng Shiu University is the home school for this forum. In his opening speech, President Jui-Chang Kung of the University emphasized that sports competition is not only a symbol of national strength, but also an essential field for the application of technology. With the rapid development of science and technology, determining how to use new technology in sports activities, e.g., competition broadcasting and athlete training, is becoming an essential topic. He further said, “In addition to presenting accurate game pictures, we must also inspire the emotional resonance of the audience to further promote sports culture and atmosphere.”
President Jui-Chang Kung also stressed that Cheng Shiu University has participated in the sports communication talent cultivation program for four consecutive years. The University continues to promote cross-domain integrated courses, combines science and technology and communication majors, helps students enter the field from classroom and practice the concept of integrating knowledge and action. The President highlighted that through accumulated practical experience, students can seamlessly integrate with the industry and create a more competitive future.
Li-Heng Wang, Chief of the School Sports Section of the Sports Administration, said that since promoting the “Program of Cultivating College and University Sports Communication Talents” in 2019, the Sports Administration has been committed to strengthening students’ practical abilities. With the core concept of “live streaming by yourself,” the program is building a learning platform that integrates theory and practice to connect campuses, industries, and technological applications, cultivating a new generation of sports communication talents.
This forum was hosted by National Taipei University of Education. President Ching-Ho Chen highlighted that since the program’s launch, Professor Chi-wen Yang’s university team has been actively training students to participate in the broadcast of events on the front lines.
