A Feast for the Eyes – Public and Private Services Event: Cultivating Talent in the Food Modeling Industry!

In 2024, Kaohsiung Municipal Haiching Vocational High School of Technology and Commerce was responsible for the training activity funded by the K–12 Education Administration, MOE. They support teachers from schools nationwide in participating in public and private organization training. Assisted by the Department of Visual Communication Design from Cheng Shiu University, the training titled [A Feast for the Eyes: Secrets/Theory and Practice of Food Modeling] was held at the Incubation Center. This allowed participating teachers to experience and learn about the current state of the food modeling industry.

The training covered various aspects, from design and molding to polishing, painting, assembly, and business operations. Its aim is to strengthen teachers’ practical professional skills, enabling them to apply the knowledge and skills learned in their teaching of the [3D Modeling Practice] course, reducing the gap between learning and application.

Kaohsiung Municipal Haiching Vocational High School of Technology and Commerce oversees the activity funded by the K–12 Education Administration, MOE, to support teachers from schools nationwide in participating in public and private organization training. The training activity, “A Feast for the Eyes: Secrets/Theory and Practice of Food Modeling,” was held at the Incubation Center. It allowed teachers from schools nationwide to gain in-depth knowledge of food model project production, food modeling techniques, thermoform shaping, various types of plastics, and the operation of tools.

Principal Pei-Yu Huang of Haiching Vocational High School of Technology and Commerce stated that the practical project course for the third-year design group is highly distinctive, featuring an annual project exhibition. Teachers visited relevant companies to learn about food model production, with the theme of “Breakfast Toast,” while receiving assistance from SplendArt Ltd. and Taiwan Kakukow Sample Industry Co., Ltd. in molding, painting, and assembly. This hands-on experience allowed teachers to practically learn about the integration of food modeling and practice, gaining deeper insights into the industry’s current state.

The Project Practice internship course of technical and vocational high schools primarily fosters students’ abilities to explore issues and integrate solutions. Students learn foundational skills through project-oriented learning and team collaboration, enhancing their problem-solving abilities.

Through hands-on practice, participating teachers can bring fresh ideas and inspiration back to their schools. They can introduce new creative thinking into their teaching while nurturing talent for the food modeling industry.
