“DIVERSITY” Stunning Hairstyles, Makeup, and Sound and Light Effects

The graduation show, “DIVERSITY”, of the Department of Cosmetics and Fashion Styling is here! Prepare yourself for a visual feast heightened by dazzling sound and light effects. This feast consists of the creations of both students and faculty on nine themes.

Dean Ching-Yun Hsu of the College of Life and Creativity was impressed by the students’ exceptional presentations, applauding their ingenuity in the overall styling, makeup characteristics, and hairstyles presented in “DIVERSITY”.

This extraordinary graduation show took place at Cheng Shiu University, drawing an audience of nearly 400 from neighboring schools, including Chung Shan Industrial and Commercial School, Kao-Yuan Vocational High School of Technology & Commerce, Shu-Te Home-Economics & Commercial High School, and Lichih Senior High School. The professionalism displayed by the students in the show deeply impressed many students, who, after watching the show, expressed their eagerness to join the Department of Cosmetics and Fashion Styling at Cheng Shiu University.

Throughout the event, the host captivated the audience in a glamorous style. Amid the dreamy changing lights, nine thematic shows took center stage, including “Were You Emotional Today?” “Magic Mirror,” “Genetic Species,” “Season,” “Cerebral Adhesion,” “Gorgeous,” “Silent Breath,” “Rebirth,” and “What the Hell Is This?”

The “Were You Emotional Today?” show used people’s stereotypes about puppets, including larger eyes, exaggerated mouths, and prominent cheekbones, to redefine their original appearances and highlight each puppet's uniqueness through diverse expressions.

In the “Genetic Species” theme, aliens abducted humans for genetic research and enhancement, where each person’s unique gene chain and cells led to a distinct appearance. The show redefined the unknown images of aliens and combined them with humans to craft unique genetic species.

The “Cerebral Adhesion” show underscored the essence of life, meaning that everyone encounters an inevitable health challenge in the course of life. Drawing inspiration from ten common diseases among today’s elderly, including diabetes, osteoporosis, heart disease, and cataracts, this show presented artworks created through element extraction and transformation, and used body painting techniques in combination with diverse materials. This show envisioned a future where the elderly can coexist with diseases, thanks to medical advancements.

The “What the Hell Is This?” show displayed many uncharted territories on Earth. Students in this show unleashed their imagination to create fantastic creatures or perhaps creatures from other dimensions, as manifested through these imaginative appearances. In the unknown places, these creatures may have surreptitiously infiltrated into the human world.
