(CSU News) The Office of Student Affairs’ Alumni and Career Development Center at Cheng Shiu University held the “Career Development Series – Distinguished Speaker Sharing” lecture on the 20th, inviting Ko Yueh-Se, founder of Techco Group, to deliver a talk. He shared experiences from his academic journey to entrepreneurship, discussed the challenges he faced, and provided insights into workplace attitudes, ethics, and interpersonal relationships.
Dean of Student Affairs Lin Shu-Yun quoted Ko Yueh-Se’s words: “Life is a journey, and the world is fair; it is up to you to bravely explore it.” In her remarks, Lin Shu-Yun stated that it was a great honor to invite Chairman Ko to share his experiences. She noted that Ko Yueh-Se’s journey—from technical college to the international stage and through education, employment, and entrepreneurship—represents a highly exemplary model of success, and that his life experience offers valuable inspiration to students. Lin Shu-Yun then presented a certificate of appreciation to Chairman Ko Yueh-Se in gratitude for his sharing.
The lecture was conducted in two sessions. The morning session, titled “The Four-Year University Journey Shapes Your Life,” targeted first- and second-year students. Chairman Ko stated that the four years of university are among the most valuable stages of life, and that the key lies in how one uses time effectively and builds a solid foundation. He emphasized that university is not only a place to accumulate professional knowledge, but also a critical period for developing resilience and establishing correct values. He encouraged students to explore directions boldly and face challenges, laying a strong foundation for the future.
The afternoon session, titled “The End of the University Journey: Facing the Future,” focused on third- and fourth-year students preparing to enter the workforce. Ko Yueh-Se pointed out that when companies select talent, they place importance not only on professional ability but also on attitude and character, including responsibility, integrity, and teamwork. He also reminded new graduates that strong interpersonal communication skills are essential for workplace success. Only by respecting others and maintaining a proactive learning attitude can individuals stand out in a highly competitive environment.
Speaking about his entrepreneurial journey, Ko Yueh-Se stated that he had encountered fraud and significant setbacks during the development of his business. However, through firm belief and a positive attitude, he gradually overcame difficulties and rebuilt his business. He encouraged students not to give up easily when facing challenges, but instead to learn from failure, accumulate experience, and transform crises into opportunities for growth.
Ko Yueh-Se also emphasized that growth during the university stage is not limited to acquiring professional knowledge, but more importantly involves learning how to manage time and develop oneself. He recalled that during his own academic years, there was little clear guidance on “how to learn and plan life.” Therefore, he hoped that through this sharing, students would be inspired to make the most of their university years, continuously improve themselves, and value not only academic ability but also character development and the formation of life values.
