New Year’s visits and greetings are a traditional custom during the Lunar New Year, where people greet each other and wish one another a Happy New Year filled with good fortune. Cheng Shiu University’s Childcare Training Home held the “Golden Snake Welcomes Spring – A Grand New Year Blessing and Greeting Ceremony,” where the children were led to wish an early Happy New Year to President Rui-Zhang Gong and the hardworking faculty and staff. As the New Year music began to play, the children entered in succession, dancing and swaying, eager to wish a Happy New Year to the "uncles" and "aunties" at the school and to give best wishes for the Year of the Snake to everyone.
The event featured various thematic groups, including the “Luck All Year Round Group,” where children dressed as A Go-Go and A Mei-Mei. They danced with dragon dance ribbons, creating a vibrant, colorful display resembling dragons soaring through the sky. The “Tao Children Bring Good News Group” incorporated local cultural elements, with children holding golden rings and using body movements to promote self-fulfillment, affirm self-worth, and boost confidence. The “Wish a Happy New Year Group,” with children dressed as little Seediq people, joyfully danced hand-in-hand, creating a fun and festive atmosphere. These adorable toddlers from the preschool class enthusiastically shouted, “Yes, Sir! I did it this year!” They greeted everyone with a Happy New Year and gave small gifts while shouting, “Yes, Sir! Yes, Sir! Yes, Sir!”
Afterward, all the children in the Childcare Training Home came together for a lively “New Year Bang Bang Bang” performance. Their energetic, joyful expressions lit up their faces as they celebrated the New Year with participants of all ages, creating cherished, unforgettable memories.
Following the joyful New Year greeting dance, the children eagerly anticipated the next highlight—receiving red envelopes, which were presented by President Rui-Zhang Gong and Vice President Wei-Shan Lee. The children cheerfully responded, “President Uncle, Vice President Uncle, wishing you good luck in the Year of the Snake!”
Winter camp commenced the same day. The Department of Tourism and Recreation hosted “Co-Creating How Itinerary, Fun Experience.” It featured immersive entertainment equipment such as the “Virtual Rowing Machine,” which combines photoelectric conduction with VR interactive technology. This allowed students to simulate rowing movements, providing general fitness and exercise benefits.
The water-resistant rowing machine participants use generates greater resistance through water injections, offering a high-efficiency aerobic fat-burning workout. The simple water-resistant rowing machine engages the shoulders, arms, back, legs, and rear muscles. Upon reaching the finish line, several participants exclaimed, “I'm so tired! My arms and legs are sore! But it was so much fun!”
When participants pull the rowing handle, the transmission sensation from the handle and seat feedback the movement trajectory to the system. Based on the force applied, the boat begins to move forward and gradually accelerates. The virtual rapids river scene, combined with 3D elements, creates the sensation of being in a real river, enabling participants to experience the thrill of waves crashing against them.
Seven other departments also held winter camp activities, each with unique themes: the Department of Leisure and Sports Management offered “Command, Athletic Training, and Health for Sports.” The Department of Digital Multimedia Design presented “3D Virtual New Star Dream Factory.” The Food and Beverage Management Department unveiled “Molecular Mixology Secrets Revealed.” The Department of Early Childhood Care and Education hosted “Inviting Children to Join the Game.” The Department of Business Administration facilitated “Top Influencer Livestreaming Creative Handmade Crafts.” The Department of Financial Management focused on “Financial Life—Wealth Management.” The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management introduced “Transforming Life with Magical Winning Strategies.”
