Cheng Shiu University Won the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Award for Building a Sustainable Campus and Promoting the Vision of Shared Prosperity of Life

The 2024 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards Ceremony and the 8th Taipei Golden Eagle Micro Movie Festival were recently held. Cheng Shiu University won six awards at the TSAA Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards and the Taipei Golden Eagle Micro Movie Festival. Its effectiveness in promoting sustainable development and USR has once again been highly recognized. Among the winners, the “Gather New People. Ci Yu Jin Cai” project again won gold medal regarding sustainability.

Grand awards ceremonies for the 4th TSAA Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards and the 8th Taipei Golden Eagle Micro Movie Festival hosted by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy were held at the Taipei World Trade Center on August 8 and 9 in conjunction with 2024 SDG Asia. The purpose was to commend companies, institutions, and schools that have achieved outstanding results and contributions in implementing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Cheng Shiu University is committed to creating the vision of “building a sustainable campus and promoting a sustainable local better life for co-prosperity,” with innovation and pragmatism as the core. It links industry and campus resources and cultivates practical talents in sustainable fields with social responsibility and practical innovation capabilities. In 2024, we began promoting theGathering New People. Ci Yu Jin Cai” project to assist new residents in deeply developing Taiwan’s land in the Cijin area of Kaohsiung City with diversified strategies such as entrepreneurship and employability cultivation. The project won Gold regarding the sustainability issue of “SDG1 No Poverty.”

The “Jiao Ao·Dacishan Model Innovation Cooperative Production Practice Plan” has formed the “Peer Youth Working Team” stationed in Cishan, Shanlin, and other areas in Kaohsiung City. The goal is to create the “Cishan School” local learning base “Erjiu Agricultural Cooperative.” It has implemented the value of “SDG4 Quality Education” with the Peer program, winning Silver for its work on this sustainable issue.

Through the Xinpi Fiber Environment-Creating the Regenerative Power Plan of Xinpi Township, blockchain technology was introduced into the orchard of Xinpi Township. Teachers and students from the Department of Food and Beverage Management of Cheng Shiu University assisted in developing Fire Pineapple Cake to provide sustainable value to local small-scale farmers and industries. They are using the Xinpi Regeneration Sustainable Blueprint program to implement the value of SDG12 Responsible Consumption and Production. They won Silver for their work on this sustainability issue.

Cheng Shiu University participated in the Taipei Golden Eagle Micro Movie Festival for the first time this year, winning two silver and one bronze for the Sustainable Microfilm category for “True Love for Peach Blossom Land,” “Thoroughly Xinpi-The Birth of Fire Pineapple Cake,” and “Cishan School-Learning from Cishan.” The goal of these projects is to lead the audience to understand local needs and the changes, impact, and future prospects brought to the local area after universities invest in the USR program. The creators hope that people can understand the beauty of the local place through the perspective of university teachers, students, and residents, encouraging participation in sustainability and local creation.
